Joseph Warren , a Founding Father of the United States, was an American physician who was one of the most important figures in the Patriot movement in Boston during the early days of the American Revolution, serving as President of the revolutionary Massachusetts Provincial Congress, and drafting the 1774 "Suffolk Resolves."

Warren was commissioned a major general in the colony's militia shortly before the Battle of Bunker Hill, but, deferring to more experienced leadership, he chose to participate in the battle as a private soldier.  He was killed in combat when British troops stormed the redoubt atop Breed's Hill.

Agreat orator, he advised all Ameicans to “Our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of. Our enemies are numerous and powerful; but we have many friends, determining to be free, and heaven and earth will aid the resolution. On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question, on which rest the happiness and liberty of millions yet unborn. Act worthy of yourselves.”
